A white-blue light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source. LED's are used as indicator lamps in many devices and are increasingly used for other lighting. It looks like a white led and illuminate's blue light. When a light-emitting diode is switched on, electrons are able to recombine with holes within the device, releasing energy in the form of photons. This effect is called electroluminescence and the colour of the light (corresponding to the energy of the photon) is determined by the energy bandgap of the semiconductor.

1. How much current does a 5mm LED draw?
- 5mm LEDs are typically tested at 20mA; they can handle up to 30mA of current, but in my opinion, I would try to keep 5mm LEDs at the recommended 20mA on all of their specifications.

- A 5mm LED is exceptionally bright with a wide beam angle, so they're suitable for use in your projects, illuminations, headlamps, spotlights, car lighting, and models. The 5mm LED can be used anywhere low-power, high-intensity reliable light or indication is required.
