PICkit3 Debugger Programmer

The pickit3 debugger programmer is an emulator controller devlopment board used to program and debug microcontrollers, as well as program EEPROM. PICkit is a family of programmers for PIC microcontrollers made by Microchip Technology. The Pickit 3 debugger uses powerful graphical user interface of the MPLAB to allow debugging and programming of microcontrollers and development boards. 

What is the difference between PICkit 2 and PICkit 3 debugger programmers?

The Pickit 3 emulator programmer features a faster 16-bit PIC24F processor and a wider voltage regulation range which makes it more reliable than the Pickit 2. By integrating a multimeter to a Pickit3 programmer, you caliberate the ouput for or increased accuracy.

How do I connect to PICkit 3?

Connect the PICkit 3 USB cable to the PICkit 3 programmer. Connect the USB cable to a USB port on your computer. Install the PIC microcontroller in your development board. Connect the PICkit 3 to the programming port on your development board.

How do I load a hex file in PICkit 3?

  • Firstly connect your Pickit3 rmulator programmer to the ICSP connector and start the application.

  • The nect thing you need to do is select PIC18 from the Device Family tab and choose the Device from the dropdown menu.

  • Load the hex file by going File->Import Hex.

  • After the abve step, Use the Write button to burn the code to the PIC microcontroller.
